PURPOSE AND PLANS

New England Bible College exists for the purpose of producing graduates who are taught and equipped by the Word of God, gifted and empowered by the Spirit of God, and trained and prepared by the servants of God. It is vital that they understand God's giftedness for service, have caught God's passion for His lost world, and are ready to be involved in His global mission of sharing His message of salvation to every people group of the world.

With this purpose in mind, New England Bible College has formulated plans to develop in its students a deepening spiritual maturity, an intimate knowledge of the Bible, a compassionate understanding of people, a ready skill to minister effectively, and an ongoing desire to learn.

DEVELOPING A DEEPENING SPIRITUAL MATURITY
The Bible describes the Christian life as a lifelong process, beginning with a new birth, being nurtured from milk to meat, and developing in growth and maturity of faith. The Bible demands that Christian leaders be well along in the development of their spiritual maturity.

New England Bible College recognizes the importance of assisting in the development of the spiritual maturity of our students, because they will be the Christian leaders of the future. Therefore our curriculum includes courses specifically designed to encourage spiritual growth. Our faculty and staff model spiritual maturity in their daily life, and our weekly chapel service encourages students to worship the Lord with their heart and mind. Additionally all continuing students are required to participate in an area of Christian service. These service assignments challenge the students to mature in areas of life that they might not have encountered otherwise.

DEVELOPING A KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD OF GOD
The Bible is God's message to mankind. In the Bible God tells us who He is and what He has done in creating this world and placing us in it. He tells us how to be properly related to Himself, to other people, and to the whole creation. As such, life cannot be lived properly without an understanding of God's message to us in the Bible.

New England Bible College recognizes that God calls certain individuals to minister his message to the world of people, so that all may hear God's message. It is necessary that these individuals be well trained in reading and understanding the Bible. Therefore, our curriculum requires the student to complete at least 45 hours of intensive Bible and Theology courses. These courses are organized in a progressive way, allowing the student to increasingly develop skills in understanding and interpreting the Bible. Such skill is developed as the student learns about the ancient world in which the Bible was written, and the way the message of the Bible develops progressively from Genesis to Revelation.

DEVELOPING AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD OF PEOPLE
The Bible is God's message for mankind, and God has called certain individuals to speak that message. But there are many different kinds of people in the world, holding many different beliefs and opinions, possessing different abilities and handicaps, and living in very different situations and circumstances.

New England Bible College recognizes that a person called to minister the Word of God to the world of people must know something about those people to whom God has sent them. Therefore our curriculum requires that each student complete at least 36 hours of course work involving a general study of the world of people. These courses reveal how and why people think and act in certain ways. The student is exposed to the major historical and cultural influences that have shaped the lives of people. As the student better understands how and why people think and act, they will better understand what God desires to say to these people from His word and how their lives can be better lived. The student will also be better able to be more compassionate and understanding toward people.

DEVELOPING SKILLS FOR THE WORK OF MINISTRY
Since the world is filled with such a wide variety of people, it is necessary to develop a variety of skills to minister the Word of God effectively to these people.

New England Bible College recognizes the need for developing the ability to minister the Word of God in a variety of ways to children and seniors, to baby boomers and baby busters, to the down and outers and the up and coming, to the educated and to the uneducated. Therefore our curriculum requires that the student complete at least 18 hours of courses that develop specific ministry skills. These courses develop the student's abilities in preaching, teaching, and counseling. Although each student is required to develop several skills to facilitate the ministry of the Word of God effectively to a wide variety of people, each student will also be able to focus on one area of specialization. These areas include pastoral ministry, missions ministry, educational ministry, and preparation for further academic work.

DEVELOPING A DESIRE FOR LIFE-LONG LEARNING
The Bible is God's Word. As such it reveals the mind of God. God's knowledge is infinite and far beyond the human capacity to master. The truths and wisdom to be found in the Bible are never ending.

New England Bible College recognizes that the student's education has only begun when they graduate from the College. We recognize that no person can master the Bible in a lifetime. We also recognize that the world will have changed dramatically in 20-30 years. The situations and circumstances encountered in ministry in the year 2020 will be very different from the year 2000. There will be new and different questions facing us then. It will be necessary for our students to have developed a desire and an ability to continue learning in order to face these new challenges. Therefore our curriculum is designed to provide a solid foundation for a lifetime of study.
