God has once again blessed our school! A wonderful Christian couple was so moved by the gift given this year to cover tuition costs that they decided free tuition should continue for students in the upcoming 2018 fall semester! This couple (who wish to remain anonymous) loves our school and its mission, and they want all called to learn God’s Word and serve His Church to do so without having to worry about tuition expenses. We are humbled and grateful that the people God has blessed should also bless us and share in the vision and work of NEBC/Grace Evangelical Seminary. We offer our heartfelt “thank you!” for this wonderful gift!

In our continuing effort to reach out to the communities and congregations we serve, two new locations have been added for classes.

The first is Fayette Baptist Church, 39 Baldwin Hill Road, in Fayette, Maine, where our biblical scholar Joshua Libby will offer another section of his introductory New Testament course. Watch this space for the announcement of the day! (Either Sunday or Thursday evenings, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.) Here’s a description of the course from our website:

Bi 102/502 New Testament Survey

This course introduces students to the content of English translations of the New Testament, helping them learn the literary genres of parable, gospel, epistle, and apocalyptic, the basics Jesus’ life and teachings, the history of the early church, and the writings of the apostles.

This class came to be offered due to the interest and initiative of several members of the Fayette Church, but is still open to others who may be interested. Individuals who wish to take the course for NEBC/Grace Evangelical credit do, however, need to complete at least the “Non-Degree Student Application” (available on the website) in order to enroll.

Another addition to our class offerings will take place at Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway, in Bangor on Sunday evenings, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This class will be taught by long-time Grace Evangelical teacher and Dean of Studies, Terry Smith. Here’s a description of the course from our website:

Mi 470/770 Topics in Ministry: The Leader’s Life and Work

This course examines the pivotal issues that leaders face as they try to balance personal lives with public lives, and personal convictions and values with the demands of their position. Included in this study are topics such as the leader’s call and competencies, life-long learning habits, critical values and choices, and common stumbling blocks to leadership.

Students interested in taking the course for NEBC/Grace Evangelical credit must be enrolled as at least non-degree students. They should also be aware that they will need to be enrolled for both semesters to earn the full three hours of academic credit.

Dr. Jerry Mick, who presides over New England Bible College and Grace Evangelical Seminary, visited the WVOM broadcasting booth Wednesday morning on the George Hale Ric Tyler Radio program. Dr. Mick discussed the upcoming school year and made a special announcement for current and prospective students. All students attending NEBC or Grace Seminary for the 2016-2017 calendar year will receive free tuition thanks to the gift of a generous benefactor. There is a wide variety of courses being offered in the fall (see list below) and there is no limit to the number of courses a student may take. Two graduates joined the New England Bible College and Grace Evangelical Seminary family following the Spring Commencement Ceremony Thursday evening, May 12th.

Beth Rogers graduated with two Certificates of Counseling for work completed in Spiritual Formation. The certificates complement a Master of Theology earned in 2013 and provide a firm foundation for her work with her church in spiritual direction.

Cindy Commeau celebrated years of hard work studying the biblical languages of Hebrew, Greek, Syriac and Ehtiopic. She earned a Master of Biblical Languages and hopes to teach in the future.

We are so proud of our graduates and wish them the Lord’s blessing as they seek to use their knowledge and gifts to serve and lead where God calls them. New England Bible College and Grace Evangelical Seminary are extremely excited about the upcoming Why Jesus? 2016 Conference this Saturday, May 7. This is going to be an exceptional opportunity for our Christian Community to come together in faith and develop ways to depend our own personal faith journeys, and increase the positive impact of Christianity in our state.

This is a thrilling time for our educational and faith community! Grace Evangelical has assumed responsibility for continuing the educational mission of New England Bible College. This united organization will generate expanded and deeper opportunities for our students. As an organization we are extremely excited, and the first step of this journey is a new, united website.
